We spent an afternoon this fall on Alan’s rooftop overlooking the beautiful Edmonton skyline to shoot a video for Betty’s Place. No one fell off the roof so we consider it a success. Hope you like it!

Our new EP Dark Side of the City is out now!

We are excited to share our EP “Dark Side of the City”. It’s a collection of tales from what grandpa used to call “the wrong side of the tracks”. We’re talking love, lust, violence, murder, and maybe a little redemptive escape. Alan brought the songs, voice, and killer harmonica. Dave brought the driving heartbeat on drums. Mike brought the bass lines (and occasional background vox, slide guitar, and piano parts). It was a joy to create thanks to the mighty Will Conway and his recording expertise.

New Song and Video “Worry Heart” out now!

We’re excited to finally be sharing this song with everyone. It’s got some of Alan’s subtle Irish rhythms, which Dave clicked with immediately, he came up with the perfect drum part. It took me a bit longer to find the bass, the secret was in the fretless. For the video we managed to catch the Edmonton river valley in the roughly 2.5 hours of summer Edmonton gets each year. Hope you enjoy it - Mike

New Song and Video “Fade Away” out today!

Download on Apple Music

Stream on Spotify

"Fade Away" is the second single released by the Edmonton-based band The Reckless Consensus. The original song was written by Lead Singer Alan Donnelly, and performed by Mike Twittey on bass guitar and Dave Carlton on drums. The track will be available to download on Apple Music and stream on Spotify starting November 29th, 2021.

According to the band, one of the elements that makes the song unique is the symbolic hand-painted flag used by the band in the music video and in their cover art. The black flag fabric is contrasted by white paint and a brightly coloured circle, which to the band is symbolic of the dark and light aspects of life.

The flag also depicts a circle composed of 41 coloured triangles. Lead singer Alan Donnelly stated that the colours and shapes inside the circle “represent a united and diverse fight to persevere through the dark times, and keep moving forward.”

The song, like the music video, is a commentary about overcoming obstacles. “Whether it's personal issues or a natural disaster, we hope that the main takeaway from this song is to find a way, never fade away,” said Alan.

The music video was a creative collaboration between The Reckless Consensus, Natural Talent Alliance, Project 18 Photography, Conway Sound Solutions and the Crawford Block (in the heart of Strathcona, Edmonton).

We had a great time hosting the show for an hour and playing a few of our favourite indie Canadian nd Irish tunes. Thanks to Rhea March for the opportunity.
